roderich madl

In 1963 he was born in Salzburg/Austria. He completed his study in classical and modern dance at the MUDRA School of Maurice Bejart in Brussels and at the Centre International de Danse in Cannes. He worked with the Tanztheater Wien, Bernd Roger Bienert, Nadine Ganase and the Esther Linley Company. Besides dance Madl also works in cooperation with other discilpines, e.g. with the video artist Martin Kusch.
1989 he started choreographing. 1993 he founded PILOTTANZT, which has already received awards from the Austrian Ministry of Science, Research and Art as well as from the Federal Chancellory for the Arts for the pieces: Borderline 1993, eros-ion 1993, Things from Above 1995 and ainos one 1998. With Things from Above and the duet x-tracts Pilottanzt toured successfully in Europe, Russia and Central America. In 1997 Madl & Ebner won the International Choreographers Competition in Hannover for Things from Above. In 1997 the piece ainos one premiered and in 1998 it received the Austrian Dance Award . In 2000 the short duet BRUT, It`s You-Man as well as END went on tour through Europe. From 2001 to 2003 Pilottanzt successfully toured through Germany, Luxemburg, Poland and Austria with the project Moving Gallery.
Since 2000 Roderich Madl is working on video- installations. Currently he is preparing a piece entitled i feel sick for the Impuls-Tanzfestival Vienna which will be presented in the summer 2005 in Vienna as well as an installation-module for his inventory series which will be integral part of his next production living kitchen.
